Storm TraX®

StormTraXTM  data server and display system provides the capability to ingest and manage lightning stroke data from the Global Atmospherics, Inc. (GAI) National Lightning Detection Network (NLDN), and other lightning source worldwide. This data can be displayed in real time, recorded, and displayed in a playback mode. Storm TraX, which uses the X Windows/Motif architecture, supports the display of multiple windows so that several areas within your data coverage limits may be analyzed simultaneously.

Storm TraX can be run as a network system application, which will allow multiple users to simultaneously perform all independent display and analysis functions. The operator may select several display options, which include the following:

  • Geographic plots with overlays of:
    • State boundaries,
    • Roads,
    • Power lines,
    • Rail roads,
    • Rivers,
    • Lakes, and
    • Additional selections.
  • Variable Persistence Control,
  • Looping,
  • Histograms, and
  • Stroke statistics.

In addition, Storm TraX provides a complete weather depiction draw package, which can be used to create and overlay weather or other geographic-based overlays (i.e., power lines, town/city layouts, etc.). The Xposure image capture and display system is also included as part of the Storm TraX system. Storm TraX is available for Sun, HP and SGI workstation computers.
